Our dear mothers - throughout our lives, have cared for us, put our needs before their own, kept us from harms way and done everything in their power to enrich us physically, spiritually and emotionally. A mother's love is unconditional and they should be thought of with admiration every day of the year for all that they have done for us. However, Mother’s Day gives us the perfect opportunity to show our gratitude in an extra special way and remind them just how much they mean to us.
We are told, “honour your father and mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you” Exodus 20:12
To honour means to regard with great respect and we are told that if we follow this command, that our lives will be prolonged. Over the course of our lives, we might have disagreements and differences of opinions with our beloved mothers. However, we should never forget the role that they have played in our upbringing and Mother’s Day not only presents the opportunity to display our appreciation but to also resolve any old conflicts.
